Default Import/Export Help

Hello,

I am sure this is a simple issue, but I have tried and searched with no answers.

I have thousands of products I want to be able to upload/import to Store Manager in CSV format.

Now, I've downloaded the sample CSV file from Store Manager website and the CSV opens with a bunch of numbers and words not categorized like CSV files I've used before..

Is there a template I can use so I cam make my own CSV files to upload into store manager?

I've tried exporting sample products from in my store to csv format, and they still are in disarray format when I open the file

Thanks guys

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

It looks like you used ";" - semicolon as a delimiter for the .csv file in Import/Export Wizard of Store Manager.
In order to work with the .csv files in MS Excel, please set "," - comma as the delimiter: http://screencast.com/t/63LiFh7L1LP

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I seem to be exporting the products, only doign four products to test, and selecting COMMA as the delimiter and checking the box under it as well. I export and open in excel as CSV file and it still does not open correctly. I select the delimiter as comma when I open the file through Excel..

Any other tutorial or help on this please? it is really bothering me!

Thank you!

Hello,

It looks looks the issue is related to the localization settings of your OS.

We recommend you to use OpenOffice (free) application which allows you to adjust more options for viewing and editing .csv files.
You're welcome to download OpenOffice here:

Feel free to contact us with additional questions.

Actually, I've narrowed the problem down to the description.. when I export the description field, it messes up the file unless it is a very short, one line description.

My normal description for the products I am trying to export is about two paragraphs, no html. Do I need to export descriptions in html mode or some special code?

Hello,

Thanks for details.

You can export product descriptions using HTML codes, it should not affect on correct parsing in MS Excel or any other applications.

Please try to export your product into .csv file using "Quoting string value" with " - quotes: http://screencast.com/t/Uv99LGeu96

Let us know how it goes.
